Great song. Very Mysterieus haunting melodies. You could've done a little more with effects. Some of the instruments sound a little dry to me. Like the drumkit could use some more prossessing. You could've used some rolling reverb or echo here and there to spice it up. I like how this song appears to tell a certain story.

Thanks for taking the time to sit through this.
I have to admit I still have a hard time finding the right amount of reverb and processing on my stuff, specially on drums, this feedback will be another step to get there. As you noticed, on this track(s) I tried to make some sort of storytelling.

Sounds very different from the first version. To be honest I like this one better. It's much more condense and more interesting to listen to. It has an interesting pleasant sound. I think the loud kick and the snare are too far appart (doesn't matter that much for the softer ones). Would be better if they were more in the middle. Gives it more power. Anyway a good song. Very hypnotic sound.

LexRodent responds:

I get what you mean, I like this version better too, I also like the other, but it feels weaker in comparison. I'll get the kick and snare closer to each other to give it that extra power.
Thanks for listening and reviewing.

Cool cover! It sounds much better then the 2011 song. This one is much more powerfull and better performed rhythmically. All of the sounds are richer, and fuller. The mix is much more transparant too. I've nothing negative to say about this. Favourited.

Btw, 've noticed at 2:26 there's a strange click on the right ear.

RobSoundtrack responds:

Thanks so so much!!

Good idea to revisit old songs. Usually we put a lot of time and effort in them, yet as time passes we no longer like them and try to forget about them. Better to brush them up again and not let all that effort go to waste.

It does indeed sound better than the earlier version. That one sounded overcompressed. This one is more polished and balanced out. Also it's longer. The first one ended abrubtly. I like the way this one continues. I like the intro. The sounds for the strings and choir could be better. The synthetic sounds in the song are quite nice.

Thanks for hosting the event. Too bad I missed the deadline, but I have no regrets. Something good emerged from it still.

Indeed it sounds more transparent than the first version. I think overall this one is better. I miss the heavy bass from the first version though. It was a bit too overpowering there, but you may have pushed it a little to far now. Maybe a bit more low end from the kick and bass in this. I like how the low end of the kick can be heard better in here. Gives the song more dynamic. Nice powerfull song. Good job.

TSRBand responds:

Thanks for the review! Glad you enjoyed it, this version's also a bit shorter than the first and I think there are a couple of fills completely missing compared to the first one that I just forgot to record :O Sound quality has generally improved but I think you're right about that low end, could do with pushing the bass up a bit here for sure.

Very transparent sharp sound, though the tones aren't too clean. Nicely balanced. I like the staccato sound. Really makes it stand out from other songs.

Sounds cool. Deep voice. Very clean recording. Really sounds like a mercenary.

Interesting song. It's the percussion that you don't expect. It gives the song a bit of a more marching quality or dancing (more oomph). Very spooky as well. The wolf howl and the low pitched laughing effect also contribute very well.

GamekrazzyProduction responds:

Haha I'm glad you like it SourJovis. Yeah I was pretty happy about the way the percussion sounds in this. Thanks for the review! ;)

Sounds very mysterious and sad. Exactly the way the title sounds. Is this for a game you're making? Because I would be interested to play it.

GamekrazzyProduction responds:

Well I'm glad you caught on. Yeah I am working on something, but at the moment I'm still only working on art assets and planning, so I don't have much to show for it quite yet. ;D

Great song. I like the instrumentation, with the echo on the piano and xylophone (is it?) Makes it sound very mysterious. It has a long introduction. It could be a boss theme if you hear the section after 52 seconds, but then it doesn't loop very well, because it becomes more quiet near the end, and starts with the introduction. More like a cutscene in preparation of a boss fight, or something like that, than an actual bossfight, because the action driven part only takes up 50% of the song. Would work in a film as well. Good luck with the contest! I think you have a fair chance!

Phonometrologist responds:

that echo sound instrument was just some yamaha thing on my keyboard that I recorded audio for, and I used a bit of sample delay to get a stereo image. So i really don't know what it is lol
I think you're spot on too with this being like a preparation piece of a boss fight. Kind of like when we first get introduced to that character but the fighting actually happens later in the game hence "prelude" being the title. Thank you for listening!

I'm a musician. Check out my band Botsing. I also make music for games, animations, short films, vlogs, etc and I write scripts, record sound effects, animate and voice act.
