Congrats on making it to the finals of the NGUAC. Great track. Very complex. Nice build up, how it gradually gets more rhythmic and intense. I like when the bas and more melodic instruments enter halfway the song at 1:59.

I thought the ending was quite funny. How it ends the way it began, but it sounds really thin and anticlimactic, when it gradually loses all sense of rhythm. That last note at 3:46 :D Loops very well.

Thank you for your review SourJovis.

The ending is indeed a joke, I just wanna troll ppl a bit. Partly I also ran out of idea so I just like meh whatever and do it simple.

I bet your girlfriend was very happy with this!

Very magical sound. The synths with the acoustic sounds creates an otherworldly atmosphere.

Very bombastic song. Took a lot of time to really get into. Had to hear it for the 3rd time to really appreciate it., because it's a bit overwhelming at first with all of the glitchy sounds and all of the individual parts running through each other. I like how the intense and the quieter parts alternate. Can't believe how good these free instruments sound. I should really check some of them out. If only I'd have the disk space.

Thank you for your great review! :)

Good song for the beginning of an album. Feels like traveling to another world.

Benji-G responds:

Thanks! :]

Fantastic track. Catchy melody. Everything is so well thought out and executed.

Very complex. Lots of interesting things going on. Still relatively transparently mixed so you can hear all of the layers in the song. It really fits the drawing it was based on with the epic jrpg style. It has an elegance you see in the character in the drawing. The organ and the harpsichord at the beginning make me think of the scythe as weapon. The highats are an interesting choice in this orchestral piece. It's those details that make the song stand out. Lots of original ideas.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thank you very much! I really tried my best to balance all the elements here, which was a bit of a mixing nightmare :'D
I really like that drawing, and I too feel like it fits the mood quite aptly.

The organ and harpsichord I think are cool at the beginning, but obviously it makes the loop very evident. If I make a battle theme in the future, I think I will make the beginning a lot more subtle, and maybe the ending too, so that the transition can be more smooth :)

Good song. I like the punchy kicks and sharp bases. Nice sounds overall. Very diverse but they work well together. Reminds me of old school video games while still sounding fresh. Those strings introduced at 0:58 are very catchy. From 2:40 to 3:09 may be my favourite part. I like the piano. Good dynamics. Alternating between the quieter and louder sections keeps this song interesting to listen to. The parts transition well into each other. Good structure.

Great way to end the year! Looking forward to hear more from you in 2020!

Preds responds:

Thank you man! I appreciate the review. Happy almost new year, hope to see you around in 2020 :D

Congrats to all the winners and thanks for hosting this competition! It's been an absolute joy!

I like synthwave. I'm learning more about it to try and make it myself. Unusual choice to pan the snare that far to the left. I guess it works because you've panned the tom to the middle. I would,ve panned the snare much more to the middle and the the tom a lot more to the right. The sounds you use are great. They all fit the synthwave style, and nothing seems jarring. I'm curious about the ideas you didn't have time for. I hope you'll later have the time to change this song, or use them for later songs.

AceMantra responds:

Thanks for the tip and the review! I'll definitely try it out in the future.
Unlike other projects, I might actually revisit this one and add some of the ideas that are still buzzing around in my head.

Thanks again! :)

I'm a musician. Check out my band Botsing. I also make music for games, animations, short films, vlogs, etc and I write scripts, record sound effects, animate and voice act.
