Not bad. Well structured. I hear you like it smooth. Not really a fan of that. Takes away the human feel, and it doesn't really grab my attention. But the song has a certain sense of adventure that I like. Could be used as a film tune for at the end, building up towards the finale. Keep it up.

GameBalance responds:

I don't like this tune much. I made it as a homework at some group.
Better check "Cold Hope" or "Laser Tears of Science".

Great song. Very well written. I like the instrumentation and the melodies. The chorus I like best. I don't mind the volume of the vocals. I do agree it is much and much too compressed. It is a quite difficult to say more about the mix until that is fixed. I also think your voice loses tune sometimes. At the end when the song is already faded out, the piano returns very softly. I hope you will make a new mix, because it is such a fantastic song, and the compression actually spoils it quite a bit for me.

Troisnyx responds:

I trust I will make a new mix -- since I'm planning for this to be Track 1 of my debut album, it's got to have a new mix ^_^'

Thanks a lot for the review, and thank you so much for listening! I will bear all these in mind when handling the final version.

You have a really great voice. Good recording quality.

Nicely complex. Very well mixed. Sounds really transparent. It gets very epic at the end. Good work.

Shanath responds:

Thanks. :]

I agree with Pitfall, except that I like you trying something new. It's a good song with much variation. Evokes the right mood. My only complaint is you don't you haven't fully mastered this type of music yet. Unlike your other songs this one sounds a bit timid. I've heard cinematic songs with better samples and a better mix. But I'm sure you will find your way in this kind of music as well.

That was good and very funny. The acting and joke delivery were great. The music fits and isn't too loud. Only the recording could've a little been better. I hear a pop when you say apartment, and occasionally it seems to be slightly to loud for you equipment. Sometimes you can tell when one take stops and another starts, because the tone of the voice and volume and such change too much and rapidly. Your characters all sound different and it was easy to tell them apart. Very good.

Jacob responds:

Yeah, I wasn't used to being so loud, and didn't realize it until it was too late.
I didn't have a lot of time to do this, so I had to make do.
Believe it or not, all of that was a lot worse before I made the changes.

I was amazed I was able to even get rid of most of the pop on apartment. It doesn't boom into headphones as far as I'm aware at this point. It just sort of breaks up the recording. If I could go back, I would stand farther away from the mic the entire time. Maybe add my better pop filter (the mic came with a little one).

There shouldn't be any issues with volume, though, since I normalized everything to -3dB.
There was one point that was messed up for some reason (when he read the definition of clitoris), but otherwise I'm not noticing the issue.

Thanks for the review, man! I appreciate the feedback very much.

Damn, that's a good song. Very epic. The heavy electronic percussion fits great with the more atmospheric orchestral tones. Also I like the combination of the synthesizers with the brass section. Both very gritty. I've listened to the original as well. It surprised me a little this song hasn't got a very different mood than the earlier one. This one is a bit more intense and fits an action scene better. Also both versions combine electronic instruments with orchestral. The remix isn't actually better than the original in my opinion, just a nice twist. More of something good is never bad. The choir also sounds really great. Although of all the instruments I think it's the least realistic. But choirs are really hard to make sound right with samples. So it's good you could make them sound like this.

Good song. Sets up a nice mood. The instruments sound nice too, but they don't quite sound live. Especially the piano. I think it would've sounded better if you played the piano yourself, or if you used more different velocity levels to get better articulation. The panning of the instruments is a little strange. It sounds like they move from left to right and vice versa. I like those congas tambourine and triangle. They're a great addition to the other instruments.

DivoFST responds:

I am lost between making things too Human or not human enough, its not the first time i fail at that :/
I played the notes myself but then i changed its position to the perfect spot...maybe too perfect indeed.
About the panning i kinda like it, i really like to use a lot of panning in my songs :)
Thanks for the review SourJovis!

Cool song. Very relaxing. Reminds me of Röyksopp somehow, even though it sounds different. It evokes the same feelings in me. I like how it pumps. Also a nice little melodies, that arent very attention demanding, but still stick after a while.

Really pleasant sounds. Especially the Camoshark vst :p And there are so many sounds. I can't grasp them all at once. The beginning makes me feel like underwater, but later it's more like outer space. Maybe not such a huge difference. Makes me feel like I'm floating. Or dreaming peacefully.

SkyeWint responds:

Oh man hello.

Thanks for the review! ^_^

The camoshark vst is really awesome you should totally use it sometime if you haven't already, and Omnisphere is also awesome - it did all the other melodic sounds.

Here's hoping if you thought you were dreaming peacefully, it was a good dream!

I'm a musician. Check out my band Botsing. I also make music for games, animations, short films, vlogs, etc and I write scripts, record sound effects, animate and voice act.
